WHAT TECHNOLOGY DOES MIMIC USE?

Mimics use Bluetooth to communicate with the phone application on your smart phone or tablet. The Smart Mimic app "discovers" a Mimic and establishes a connection to it using the Bluetooth signal. Once a Bluetooth connection is made between your Mimic and mobile device, Mimic then uses the location services of your mobile device to communicate up-to-date location information to the app.

Your Mimic can be discovered by your smartphone or tablet within Bluetooth range.To always have the best connection and most up-to-date location information when your Mimic and device are within range of each other:

  • Bluetooth must always be enabled

  • The Smart Mimic app must always be open and running (foreground or background)

  • Location services should be enabled 

    • "Always" should be checked for users running iOS 11 and later

    • Location Permissions should be toggled on for users running Android

If any of these 3 things are not true, your Smart Mimic, app, and device are not communicating with each other.

HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY LAST?

Mimic Plus

Mimic plus has 3 months battery life with average usage. You can charge Mimic Plus with the micro usb port on the back. Charging time may take up to one hour depending on battery condition. When the Mimic plus is charged, the light turns green.

Mimic- ki

Mimic- ki has 2 years battery life. 

You'll receive an in-app notification and an email 23 months after your first Mimic-ki is activated. This will remind you of your "Mimic anniversary," and you'll be eligible to replace all the current Mimic in your account at the special price!

If your Mimic-ki's battery dies before a year has passed from the time that you activated it, we’ll replace it free of charge! It’s covered by our worry-free warranty.

ARE MIMICS SAFE TO USE WITH KIDS & PETS

We acknowledge that health may be a concern when considering a Mimic is in the pocket of a child’s (or anyone’s) jacket. The National Institute of Health has formally studied the health effects of Bluetooth technology on people. 

Unlike cell phones, which have to transmit a signal to an antenna that might be many miles away, Bluetooth devices only need to reach the phone in your pocket. Mimic's Bluetooth range is 120 meters (250 feet). This also means that they emit far less radiation than cell phones themselves. 

IS MY PHONE OR TABLET COMPATIBLE WITH MIMIC?

Mimics are compatible with both iOS and Android devices!
iOS

Mimic is compatible with the following iOS devices running iOS 10 and up:

  • iPhone 5s or newer

  • iPad 3rd Gen or newer

  • iPad Mini 2 or newer

  • iPad Pro or newer

  • Apple Watch Series 1 or newer (Requires iPhone 5s or above with iOS 10 or newer)

New iOS devices will be supported as they become available, as long as they have Bluetooth 4.0 support.

Android

As long as the devices listed below are running Android 6.0 or newer, they are officially compatible with Mimics!

  • Google Pixel and Pixel 2

  • Samsung Galaxy (S5 or newer)

  • Nexus (4 or newer)

  • OnePlus (One or newer)

  • HTC One (M8 or newer)

  • Samsung Note (4 or newer)

  • Motorola Moto X (or newer)

There are many different Android devices on the market. If your Android device is not on this official compatibility list, that means we have not officially tested Mimic with your device type. There is a good chance Mimic is compatible as long as your device is running Android 6.0 or newer and has Bluetooth 4.0, but we cannot guarantee the same level of technical support in troubleshooting scenarios. 

WHAT ARE MIMICS' RANGE?

Mimic has the widest BLE range distance among other Bluetooth devices. (It's up to 250 feet)

Note: Depending on your environment, the Bluetooth range might vary.

HOW LOUD IS THE VOLUME?

Mimic Plus

Mimic plus has a frequency range of 500 Hz to 5000 Hz.

Mimic plus has a very powerful alarm. It's 120dB(from 4 inc)

When more than one Mimic is actived in a non-synchronous manner, the volume doubles!

Mimic- ki

Mimic-ki has a frequency range of 200 Hz to 8000 Hz, to cater to a variety of hearing sensitivities. 

It's 85dB(from 4 inch)

HOW CAN I GET NOTIFIED WHEN MIMIC IS FAR AWAY?

Mimic can communicate with you while you are within 250 feet. Even though you are out of this distance, it is still possible for Mimic to communicate with you.

  • If you have a phone/tablet in your home, you can recieve phone notifications when you are away. Mimic will use your phone/tablet as a gateway.

  • We will release Mimic gateway which connects Mimics to cloud. Subscribeto be informed about Mimic Gateway.

WOULD MIMIC'S ALARM RING WHEN IT'S NOT CONNECTED?

Yes it will ring the alarm. Once you set a scenario to Mimic, the scenario will always be set whether Mimic is connected or not to your phone.

HOW DO I CREATE A MIMIC ACCOUNT?

Download the app on your phone or tablet.

  • Open up the app, and tap the text button that says “create a new account”

  • Enter your name, surname and the email address you want to use with your account. 

  • Create a password that’s at least 7 characters long.

  • Don't forget to let Mimic access Bluetooth and Location Services (necessary!)

  • Then tap “Add Mimic” to pair your Mimic.

HOW DO I ADD A MIMIC?

Tap the “Add Mimic” in the bottom left of your screen underneath, "Add Mimic".

  • You'll see a list of categories of different Mimics that you can add!

  • Select which Mimic you are adding - Mimic Plus, Mimic- ki.

  • Firmly press the “Mimic” button (see buttons' positions)

  • Hold your Mimic close to your device ... and there you go! Your Mimic is officially activated and ready!

  • Name your Mimic by selecting which item you are going to attach or where you are going to use it (backpack, home security)

CAN I ADD MORE THAN ONE MIMIC TO MY ACCOUNT?

Yes of course! You can add up to 20 Mimics. You can see all your Mimics on the main page and set different scenarios for each Mimics.

HOW DO I USE MIMICS?

We call Mimic as a multifunctional platform because you can do many different things with a single device! Download the Smart Mimic application to use Mimics. You can assign different tasks to Mimic by selecting the scenarios in the application. To use Mimic, select the appropriate scenario for the problem you want to solve.

  • Tap your Mimic you have added on main page.  (If there is no added Mimic on the main page see the instructions)

  • This page is your Mimic's page. You can see the map above which shows the current, and last locations on your Mimic.

  • Tap the “Scenarios” in the bottom left of your screen. You will see Mimic categories.

  • We have categorized the scenarios according to their usage because there are too many scenarios.

  • When you select one of the scenarios; Mimic will ask you: "How you want to be informed?"

             Mimic alarm sounds (Mimic rings the alarm when it's triggered)

             Light on Mimic (Mimic lights up when it's triggered)

             Phone notification (Mimic send you a phone notification when it's triggered)

You can get informed through Mimic by selecting all combinations from these preferences according to your situation.

ARE MIMICS WATER RESISTANT?

We know there are holes on Mimic Plus but do not worry! Mimic's circuit is coated with a special material so it is not affected by water. You can use all Mimic products with peace of mind in outdoor conditions! You can review the warrantyterms of Mimic for outdoor conditions.

CAN I TRACK MY BELONGINGS WITH MIMICS?

Mimic does not have a GPS so you can not track your belongings with any Mimic product.  Smart Mimic app remembers where and when your Mimic was last seen. Just make sure that the Smart Mimic app is open and always keep it running — just turn it on and leave it on.

I CANNOT ADD MY MIMIC

Mimics that have already been added to an account cannot be added again. Please make sure the Mimic that you are trying to activate is not already active in your account.

  • Make sure that your Bluetooth is on.

  • You must have internet connection while adding your Mimic.

  • Be sure to keep your Mimic close to phone as its shown until Mimic plays a melody.

If the above steps were not helpful, please try the following:

  1. Update your phone and app to their latest software versions.

  2. Turn off your phone for 2 minutes, then turn it back on.

  3. Open your app and leave it open for 2 minutes.

  4. Press the button of your Mimic for 1 second.

  5. Your Mimic should play a tune, but even if it did not, continue the activation process as it did.

I CANNOT REMOVE MY MIMIC

You need to be connected to your Mimic to be able to remove it.

  • Be sure that your Bluetooth is on and connected to your Mimic.

  • Make sure that you have internet connection while removing your Mimic.

  • Mimic should play a melody when removing process is completed successfully.

MIMIC DOESN'T CONNECT

First things first, though, please make sure your phone and your app are updated to the latest version! These updates frequently resolve technical issues, because they improve general performance and reliability.

If upgrading did not solve the problem, follow the steps below it.

Bluetooth Refresh

  • Turn off your phone or tablet for 2 minutes, then turn it back on.

  • Turn your Bluetooth back on and reopen the Smart Mimic app.

  • It could take up to 2 minutes for your Tile to reconnect!

HOW CAN I UPDATE MY MIMIC?
We are constantly improving Mimic's talent by updating it. If your Mimic is not up to date, Smart Mimic app will alert you with a pop-up. Follow in-app instructions to update your Mimic to the latest version.  While it is updating;

  • Make sure that your Mimic is close to the phone.

  • Your phone's battery is at a sufficient level.

  • Keep the Smart Mimic app open during the update.

If a problem occures during the update, the update will resume where it left off.

IFTT (If this then that) is a free web-based service to create chains of simple conditional statements, called applets.
